Armed people first shot dead Hidayatullah Jakhrani and then killed Ms Imamzadi. According to area people, the killers were relatives of Imamzadi and the double murder was motivated by the suspicion that the couple had illicit relations. On information, the area police took the bodies to a Jacobabad hospital for post-mortem. However, no case was registered.

Karo-kari (honour) killing is rampant in upper Sindh where, according to statistics collected by human rights organisations, around 250 people, most of them women, fall prey to this feudal custom every year.
