Jamaat e Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch has said that explanatory statement in regard to the Kerry Lugar Bill had no significance as its conditionalities remained unchanged.
The KLB is against the self respect and the honour of the country and the masses will reject it in the JI referendum scheduled for October 23, Baluch said while presiding over a high level meeting held at Mansoora to review the arrangements for the forthcoming exercise. Liaquat Baloch said that if the rulers gave up luxurious living and launched austerity drive, the country could overcome the economic crisis and stand on its own feet.
However, he deplored that there was no change in the living style of the rulers although the country was under huge foreign debt. He said the US attitude towards Pakistan was insulting and should change. He said the civil and military institutions had rejected the KLB and even the Finance Minister had openly expressed his reservations on it. Therefore, the rulers should reject the Bill instead of giving its explanations.
