National, Doctor's hospitals are slaughter houses:Waseem Akram

KARACHI: Former cricket captain of Pakistan Wasim Akram has labelled the Doctor's and National hospitals as slaughter houses. Akram claims that Dr Kamran Cheema of the NationalHospital asked him for 150,000 dollars in order to send his wife to Singapore, DawnNews reported

The cricketer said that the ordeal he had to go through during his wife's sickness and eventual death, should serve as an example and make people more careful of such institutions.

He added that if a well known personality like him can be treated in such a manner, these hospitals are capable of doing far worse to the general public.

After failing to receive adequate treatment for his wife in Pakistan, Akram was forced to fly her out of the country.

Her condition worsened when the plane made a refuelling stop in Chennai. She was shifted to the ChennaiHospital, where she succumbed to a severe infection, a week later.
