WASHINGTON: Shawwal moon in the United Kingdom and Europe is likely to be cited today at 16th July after Maghreb prayers. It will be possible to see the moon with naked eye if the sky remains clear on the eve of July 16, meteorologists said.
However, Muslims across the UK, EU and Western countries will be keenly waiting for the announcement from KSA officials as they follow Saudi Arabia’s Islamic Hijri calendar.
The Supreme Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia is to meet today to witness the Ramadan crescent.
While other countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and some other Asia countries will organise their moon sighting session respectively on Friday to decide the first lunar day of Shawwal.
